PJ Crocombe

PJ is a proud member of the Wadeye community, where he was raised with strong guidance from his family and elders. His early education was rooted in both Western literacy and numeracy and deep cultural learning, reinforcing a strong sense of identity and responsibility from a young age.
As part of the Thamarrurr Youth extension program, PJ attended Bright Pā12 College in Year 7 before earning a scholarship to Scotch College in Melbourne, where he completed Years 9ā12. He later studied Arts at the University of Melbourne for two years, broadening his academic and cultural perspectives.
PJ began his professional career at Scotch College as a teaching aide, where he provided vital support to Indigenous students navigating life away from home. This experience strengthened his commitment to youth empowerment and education.
Returning home, PJ stepped into leadership as a Director of Thamarrurr Youth. In this role, he now works closely with families across the Thamarrurr region, supporting them to identify community needs and create meaningful pathways for their young people. His work is grounded in cultural integrity, practical knowledge, and a deep commitment to the long-term wellbeing of his community.
PJ is a respected young leader and role model whose lived experience and professional dedication continue to guide the next generation through education, connection to Country, and culturally informed decision-making.
